What helps us

  • What's on the floor now: carpet, an old clear finish, paint, vinyl or bare boards
  • Stairs, decks, damaged boards or gaps
  • Roughly when the house was built, if you know
  • Any signs of damp, such as cupped boards or a musty subfloor
  • Up to five photos, including a close-up of the boards and any problem areas

If you're lifting old vinyl or lino in an older home, mention it. Some older sheet flooring and adhesives contain asbestos and should be checked before anyone disturbs them.
